State of the art CNC machines working to tight manufacturing tolerances and experienced well trained staff, allows us to source and machine as vast range of material types, colours, finishes and thicknesses (from as low as 1mm to over 50mm thick).
Every material is selected to best suit the environment and budget of your application. Below are specification details of our most commonly used materials.
High impact polystyrene (HIPS)
Widely used and a relatively inexpensive material. We use in a high impact solid form, offering a good balance of toughness and stiffness, with excellent dimensional stability enabling us to keep to strict manufacturing tolerances. Commonly used, as it offers a cost effective solution for a vast range of electronic enclosures; HB rated option, with either a semi-matt textured or gloss smooth finish. Available in a range of colours and thickness or custom colour-matched option.
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)
Styrene properties of HIPS with additional rubberised properties of polybutadiene, allows accurate machining and ease of fabrication, we offer in a UL94 V0 Listed higher specification. In addition to being flame retardant, ABS is ideal for applications where impact or petrochemical resistance is required. Frequently used for medical and high power application, our ABS is available in a range of colours and with a semi-matt fine textured finish or custom colour-matched option.
Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA / Acrylic)
Non-crystalline ‘glass like’ transparent or opaque material, making it an ideal addition to your enclosure if you require; optically transparent viewing windows, LED light pipes, transparent lids or coloured feature panels. Available in a vast range of options; various thicknesses, clear or coloured, high gloss or frosted finish, IR transparent and natural hard scratch resistance surface but available with scratch resistant coating.
Strong and tough engineering material, commonly available in transparent grades and able to withstand high deformation before cracking. Stronger and much lighter than glass, with high transparency to visible light, makes it ideal for protective windows and covers, used in military, medical and industrial applications. Available in varying thicknesses, Class I or flame retardant grades, readily in clear and some colour options.
Sandwiching a Polyurethane (plastic) core between two 0.3mm thick layers of aluminium, offers a very lightweight alternative to sheet metal. Rigid, easily machined and hand fabricated, with high impact strength and weather resistance, makes this material suitable for either entire outdoor housings or panels of larger enclosures such as; kiosks and information terminals or medical trolleys. Available 3mm thick, in gloss or matt, brushed metal affect finishes and various colours.
Acrylic Capped ABS
Co-extruded ABS and Acrylic top layer, provides both the strength and ease of fabrication properties of ABS and the hardwearing scratch resistant properties of Acrylic. Aesthetically pleasing high gloss finish and abrasion resistance, makes this material a favourable choice for POS, consumer products and displays. Available in a selection of thicknesses and finishes; colours, carbon-fibre and metallic effects.
